Windows sidebar startup item causes buggy installer window

My laptop has been having performance issues and lockups. After doing everything I could think of to restore the system I was still getting a Windows Installer Dialog box on startup. After disabling and re-enabling the srtup one by one I have isolated the cause as the sidebar item.

How can I fix this?

Do you have UAC on or off? If you have it off, turn it back on and give it a try.

Anyway try this script.

This script will restore the Sidebar.

Don't forget to make a Restore Point before you run any VBScript.

Thanks for your help but I eventually went for a clean reinstall.

The problem with my sidebar I had was that it would flash and flicker during game play. Bloody annoying so I turned it off.
